On Thursday April 7th, the Blacksmiths Loft Restaurant, Derby, will be hosting an exclusive tasting evening ‘A Celebration of Derbyshire’
With this exciting 6 course tasting menu, we celebrate the very best that Derbyshire has to offer, focusing on locally grown produce and traditional local dishes.
We start with a 17th century recipe for the Derbyshire oat cakes, with the addition of some wild horseradish that Head Chef Chris Parry (Email – firstname.lastname@example.org) has foraged, along with some beautiful wild mushrooms from Atlow sourced by Rob at R&L Fruits in the Derby Market Hall.
Next, we enjoy Sage Derby cheese, which is lightly whipped and then paired with some heritage beetroot from Melbourne.
Cleanse your palate with cider sourced from Ashover which we will churn into a sorbet..
Onto mains, we looked no further than stunning Derbyshire lamb from Owen Taylor butchers, served alongside some lovely spring vegetables and wild garlic from Darley Park.
Dessert, we found a long lost recipe for ‘Derbyshire pudding’ which is a twist on a Bakewell pudding, with the addition of homemade lemon curd.
And to finish off, petit fours, you can enjoy Derbyshire classics… Ashbourne gingerbread, Wirksworth Thor cake and Bakewell tart.
This 6 course tasting menu is available for £35 per person, (or £55 per person with wine pairing) Tables are available from 5pm, last seating at 9:30pm.
We also have a great selection of locally brewed real ales from John and Pete at Derventio Brewery, Darley Abbey.
Why not finish off your evening after dinner with some live music in our ground floor bar, the Blacksmiths Lounge, from a variety of talented local musicians.
