English Wine Week at The Blacksmith’s Loft. : 24th May – 1st June.

Whilst two local football teams, Derby County and Burton Albion are celebrating reaching the play off finals at Wembley this bank holiday weekend, this week The Blacksmith’s Loft celebrate a very special week, British Wine Week, a long and rich history of wine-making and Viticulture in England and Wales, dating back to Pre-Roman times.
To celebrate, our restaurant located in the heart of Derby City Centre, will be featuring some superb English Wines from one of over 400 vineyards in the UK and Wales, along with some English bottled Ales. Our chefs will also be preparing some hearty and traditional delicious dishes using the best and freshest English produce, to pair with these wines.

Restaurant Manager, Lesley along with Head Chef, Andy have worked together to pair three superb wines from The Chapel Down Winery in Kent, with some delicious starters, mains and desserts.

‘We are dedicated to supporting local, independent businesses wherever we possibly can ‘ Lesley says, ‘When you can support these businesses to obtain everything for your customers to enjoy, from the freshest local ingredients for our menu, to wines, ales and spirits, it makes you feel all the more passionate about what you’re doing. England has some wonderful wines to offer and I think the wine making industry in England will keep going from strength to strength if we celebrate that fact and offer these great wines to our guests here at The Blacksmith’s Loft.’

Head Chef, Andy feels strongly about using local ingredients, ‘Here at The Blacksmith’s Loft we want to promote everything that’s local to us, not only as a city but as a country. It is an important part of customer service, bringing the excellent produce and what this country has to offer straight to our guests plate or glass. Delivering a delicious, fresh and mouth-watering experience.’
